I've seen that kind of in a game before, where the protagonists were the "heroes" but you got the story from their point of view, while the "villian" wasnt the greatest guy but he also saw himself as a "hero" who was gonna fix the corrupted world

Did you know Cultist Simulator has not one, but two different statuses for insanity? It's true.

What do they do?

Fascination and Dread. If you have 3 Fascination or 3 Dread during Season of Visions/Despair, it's Game Over (edited)

Hmmmmmm interesting. So like, it's a thing of not being too fanatic or not too detached from the cult or that happens?

Dread can come from Restlessness for not fulfilling goals in time, among other sources, like particularly grim occult lore in the game.
